Troll Lag
I've been dual running Droks with a friend of mine (had to wait for a good spawn of course) and then the weirdest thing happened. I dashed and flew right past the Mountain Trolls but then I noticed something weird. For the 3 seconds that I was still running I was taking damage.
I survived long enough to see myself get bounced back (in a position where one gets bodyblocked) and eaten by the trolls. After I said it was lag other people said that "everyone and thier mom" is getting the same lag at the troll cave (In Lonars Pass.) I don't knwo if thye were being nice or if it it's true, or if it's my compy. Anyone else get this? |

Wouldn't be the first time I've heard about this. I say game on, lag'll go down in a few weeks most likely.

Yup, I've noticed similar spike lag where all of a sudden you get 'portalled' back to a place you've been before already.
And this was on all three continents. Most likely this is due to the Nightfall server changes and therefor it'll be improving once the severs and databases have stabilised a bit. Hopefully at least. |

I've once walked from the harbor of LA to the other end of it, and while i was wondering why LA was so empty i bounced back to the harbor

I get this pretty much every time I run somewhere, and every now and then when I fight (more obvious when I run I guess?). Annoying as hell, but I only had it a couple of times before NF was released. Might just be the extra lag from the hordes of people logging on when NF was new, haven't tried running in a week or so now.

I ran back to Ascalon yesterday to work on a Protector title, and had this worse than ever in the Northern Wall mission. I was all the way at the part you get the second piece of the armor for the bonus, and I rubberbanded all the way back to the first armor spot. It was weird that the gargoyles hadn't spawned and there was no bonus item there to pickup. After I ported back, when I revisited the second location, the mobs had spawned and the armor piece was there as well. Weird.

I've been noticing this ever since the big update right before Nightfall came out.
Until it's fixed or goes away (there have been a number of threads talking about it and I believe I remember reading that ANet is studying the problem) what I do is watch for damage after I have to run through a mob. If I'm still taking damage when I shouldn't be, I activate a skill that I would have to stop running to use (healing signet, healing breeze). This forces the game to show me where I'm really at and hopefully gives me a chance to back out of the group that has aggro lock on me and then successfully run around them. Another hint: Run with your heroes. When you enter a new zone or leave a town, flag them right next to the zone point or near it and out of anything's agro range. If you get rubberbanded and die because of it, just send your heroes using the group flag back through the zone point. The will teleport to your body, grab the mob agro (if they are still there) and rez you so you can run away (if the mob goes away, only use one so you can do it again if necessary). Alternatively, you can do the same thing when alive if you want to use one of them to grab agro while your run past the group now attacking your hero. |

To to the nature of this lag, it is most likely to happen in exactly that situation, unfortunately.
Multiple enemies + speed boost + narrow passageway = Bad medicine. |

I still say we shouldn't have to be resorting to new tactics to avoid this kind of thing. I say that anet does something quick.

One day this week in the middle of a battle, my elementalist starting spinning in place. Don't remember what I did to stop it but the group I was with got a good laugh out of it.

Rubberbanding has been a problem ever since NF came out. A lot of people in my guild have been complaining about it - but sadly nothing can be done about it (apparently). My advice: try to give yourself a little space when running so you don't get caught on mobs and bodyblocked.
